Kealakekua Heritage Ranch 4x4 Tour
Time: 7 am – 5 pm
Location: Kealakekua mauka
An always popular event, participants will tour the Kealakekua Heritage Ranch to see some of Kona's mauka forests that are rarely open to the public and learn that commercial activity can coexist with the forest for the benefit of the community, the watershed and the forest. Participants in this event, sponsored by the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District, should have their own 4x4 vehicle; the KSWCD may have space available in its own vehicles for some participants who do not. The tour will start in the parking lot of Konaweana High School in Kealakekua at 7 a.m. and last the entire day. There is an event fee of $75, which includes coffee in the morning, lunch and beverages. Participants should bring a sweater or light jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Participants must register for this tour by calling the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District at 322-2484, extension 100.
