Earth & Ocean Fair at Keauhou

The signature event of the Kona Earth Festival, the Earth & Ocean Fair at Keauhou is a family and community based program featuring more than 50 booths, exhibits, displays and fun activities that showcase environmental and recycling programs, coastal restoration projects, ocean literacy, energy awareness and conservation, cultural activities and sustainable living ideas. Participants can watch underwater films at the Reef Theater, take part in tide pool adventures and whale and dolphin games, learn from Reef Teach and Fish for Knowledge and meet Humu the walking, talking fish and the Green Power Girl, who teaches children about caring for the planet. Cultural experts will share their crafts and teach poi pounding, lei making and hula. Plus entertainment and tasty food made from fresh Big Island products. Private, non-profit and government organizations participating include the Sierra Club, the Nature Conservancy, the Kohala Center, Kaloko-Honokohau National Park and many more. This event is presented by the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce and the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program and sponsored by the Outrigger Keauhou Resort, ProService Hawaii, Jack’s Dving Locker and Hawaii Forest & Trail. This event gets bigger and more popular every year – this is the 9th annual event – with thousands of residents and visitors attending.
