Trash Bash Fashion Show
Time: 1 – 2 pm
Location: Kohala Coffee Mill in Hawi
Now in their third year, the Trash Bash Art Show and Trash Bash Fashion Show are both innovative and popular events in which participants use discarded or recycled “trash” materials to create a surprising variety of art as well as clothing. The aim of the events is to entertain and educate as well as to inspire Kohala residents to think more about recycling and conservation efforts. Both the Trash Bash Art Show and Fashion Show take place at the Kohala Coffee Mill in Hawi. Entries for both events will be judged on the basis of using as much material as possible that would otherwise go into the landfill. There are no entry fees for the art or fashion show; entry deadline is 4/13 with entry forms available at the Kohala Coffee Mill, or by calling 345-6322. Organizers are offering “preparation workshops” to teach construction techniques at Kenji's Museum, Sunday 3/22 and Sunday, 4/5; these workshops are free to all participants. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own supplies. Trash Bash Art and Fashion Shows and workshops are sponsored by the Trash Bash Organizing Committee, WasteStream Kohala, Recycle Hawaii, and the Kona Earth Festival.
