"Island Self-Reliance through Sustainable Living"

Planting Trees at Donkey MillThe Kona Earth Festival invites you to join us in our annual community celebration of the land and sea! With a month and a half of activities, there is something for everyone. The Kona Earth Festival is a celebration of our natural environment and our related community ethics and practices in support of the `aina. It is an opportunity for citizens to get educated and improve our skills for ethical stewardship of the land and the sea.

The purposes and goals of the Kona Earth Festival are to:

• Raise awareness of and respect for environmental issues through fun and productive activities and events

• Bring practical solutions for sustainability to the public and decision makers in the community

• Invite visitors to West Hawai`i to share these enlightening experiences

• Raise funds for environmental organizations in West Hawai`i

• Implement, recognize, and honor successful sustainable practices in the community... all to take place in a culturally appropriate manner.
